Contrasts in Denver: Pro-capitialism group has rally with permit, Occupy Denver has never had one--UPDATED

CO Veterans Monument,
state capitol, 11/10/11
From the Denver Post, a study in contrasts.
About 70 Occupy Denver protesters gathered in Civic Center for the group's 10th straight Saturday march, but just east of the park about 30 people congregated on the steps of the state Capitol with a new message.

While the "Free Market, Free People" rally was officially canceled because of the weather, people still assembled to give short speeches and donate canned goods for a food drive.

Sen. Shawn Mitchell, R-Broomfield, helped organize the rally. He said the group was not against Occupy Denver but instead wanted to spread the idea that free entrepreneurship and business owners are a solution — not an enemy.

The group had a permit to gather on the steps. Occupy Denver protesters — which grouped there after their march — have never had a legal permit to demonstrate at the Capitol.
UPDATE December 5: The Occupy Denver people, via Twitter, sent me what appears to be a permit for a December 3 rally for Denver's Civic Center Park. The Capitol, obviously, is under jurisdiction of the state--and apparently the Post is right, they've never had a permit for the Capitol. Occupy Denver says they had permits for their prior protests in Civic Center park, which evolved into a tent city. I was there on November 12 when the Denver Police removed what James Taranto calls the "Obamaville".
