Former Chicago First Lady Maggie Daley to be buried at Holy Sepulchre in Worth

Daley plot--near the front entrance of
Holy Sepulchre
The funeral of Chicago's former first lady, Maggie Daley, was held to today at Old St. Patrick's Church of the city's Near West Side. The popular wife of Richard M. Daley died of cancer on Thanksgiving. The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Ms. Daley will be at the family plot at a cemetery in Worth, which of course means Holy Sepulchre, where Daley's parents, including his legendary father, the Richard J., are interred.

Pictured is the Daley plot as it looked on Memorial Day last year.

On a personal note, all four of my grandparents, as well as my father, are buried at the large Catholic cemetery. With the possible exception of my maternal grandfather--a secret Republican--all of them were Richard J. Daley voters.

This is Chicago. They probably still vote for the Democrats.
