CNBC debate: Perry's "oops" moment in Michigan

Cutting the size of government was a steady topic in tonight's CNBC Republican presidential debate in Michigan tonight. This one will be remembered for a moment Rick Perry will want to forget. The Texas governor vowed to eliminate three cabinet departments, but just named two, Energy and Commerce. When pressed by a moderator about the third, he hemmed and hawed, then he paused and shyly uttered, "Oops."

About 20 minute later he named that third department--Energy.

This is easily the biggest debate gaffe since Hillary Clinton was snared by the late Tim Russert on both sides of the driver's licences for illegals issue four years ago.

Perry has shown reluctance to participating in these debates, but this is not 1952--debates are part of the hiring process.
