75th anniversary of Jim Henson's birth; the Birthplace of the Frog Museum

Birthplace of the Frog Museum,
Leland, MS
The brilliant Jim Henson was born 75 years ago today in Mississippi. The creator of the Muppets spent the early years of his childhood in the delta town of Leland. The slow moving stream of Deer Creek passes through the village--it's full of frogs. On the banks of the stream is the Birthplace of the Frog Museum, which I visited in 2008. Leland is of course celebrating today.

One of Henson's playmates in Leland was Kermit Scott.
