Chicago's Oak Street Beach |
Chicago's wussy police brass is part of the problem. For instance, the paper-pushers in blue insisted the city's North Avenue Beach was closed on Memorial Day--are you ready for this whopper--because of extreme heat. The temperature didn't even hit 90 degrees that day. The following morning WLS-AM, which has been on top of this story from the get-go, said that some listeners reported "large gangbanger element" was at North Avenue Beach and the adjacent Oak Street Beach that sort-of hot day. Callers to the station's Don Wade and Roma Show "reported seeing dozens of gang-bangers pushing people off their bikes" the station's website reported the following day. It added, "One caller said those that were causing the havoc were not dressed for the beach and looked like 'bad elements.'" And the 911 tapes back up WLS's reporting. But Chicago's new police superintendent, Garry McCarthy, told the station, "Well, you know, this again is frustrating, because if they called a radio station or if they called a news reporter, nobody ever called 911 to report that."
Oh, it's important to note that the perpetrators of the wilding attacks, which have continued into June, are black, and the victims are predominately white. Perhaps that's why the police brass and the compliant media are obscuring these brutalities.
McCarthy is capable of great stupidity. While speaking at Father Michael Pfleger's notorious (Yes, I know what I'm writing) St. Sabina Catholic Church, the city's top cop made the audacious claim that Sarah Palin and the National Rifle Association are part of a racist plot.
"So here's what I want to tell you," McCarthy told St. Sabina parishioners. "See, let's see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow." He continued. "What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting scared? Government sponsored racism." Pfleger's flock responded with cheers.
Pfleger is a former spiritual advisor to President Obama.
Welcome to Chicago's Wilding Summer.
Oh, I almost forgot about this item. CBS 2 Chicago reported on McCarthy's St. Sabina appearance the day after it happened. It omitted his controversial comments in its story.
Welcome to Chicago's Lamestream Media.

I WAS going to say that, having grown up in Illinois (although downstate--but there was always the Trib & the old now defunct Herald American--the Sun was considered a rag in those days) but leaving after HS in '62, "I see NOTHING has changed in Chicago politics. Why am I not surprised?--Hear no, Speak no" But upon further reflection I realize the old Bill Daley would have never let PC charges of racism deter him from knocking heads in order to protect "the city that works." Chicago may now be "the City Beautiful" thanks to Daley the Younger, but there is DEFINITELY trouble in PC paradise now. So much for "progressive" thinking. Bring back the paddy wagons..lol.
