Quinn tax may lead to Caterpillar to leave its Illinois cocoon

On Tuesday, Governor Pat Quinn, who is the recipient of $350,000 in United Auto Worker political contributions, blew kisses at the UAW at their bargaining convention in Detroit.

But the day before, Caterpillar CEO Doug Oberhelman sent a letter to Quinn in which he tells the Chicago Democrat that he has been approached by four states to leave Illinois since the it dramatically raised its personal and corporate income tax two months ago.

Peoria-based "Cat" is one of Illinois' largest private employers, many of whom are UAW members.

Is it possible that the UAW helped pay the way for many of its Illinois members to lose their jobs?
