Marathoners in the news: Woman running around Australia, McDonalds, and sumo

It's been a while since I've done a running post, but the time is right. You probably heard about Kelly Gneiting, the 400-pound former sumo wrestler who completed the Los Angeles Marathon earlier this month, becoming the heaviest person to compete a 26.2 mile race. Also running that race was Chicago-area athlete Joe "McRunner" D'Amico, who ran a personal-record and lighting fast 2 hours and 36 minutes, topping his old PR by 41 seconds--after eating nothing but McDonald's food items for the last month.

And finally there is marathoner Deborah de Williams of Tasmania, a breast cancer survivor who is about to become the first woman to run around--not across--Australia. That's an 11,000 mile stroll.

Marathoners are amazing people.
