Oil near $100 a barrel--and rising

It shouldn't be surprising to anyone who pays even cursory attention to Middle Eastern politics that the entire region is a trip wire. So it's not shocking that the wire has been triggered--and there is unrest inside the wire curtain--where much of the world's oil is produced. Which is why I paid $3.49 a gallon this morning for gasoline at the Morton Grove Marathon station. (Note--the photograph is three weeks old--but drive down Dempster if you don't believe me, only the price will probably be even higher tomorrow.)

Crude oil selling for just under $100 a barrel--a two year high.

Yet we have a president who does not want to increase domestic oil production; he is utilizing last spring's Gulf of Mexico oil spill to institute a "permatorium" blocking the issuance of new drilling permits there. But did you know that oil firms have created an underwater spill containment system?

Drill here, drill now, pay less.

Yes, it's that simple.
