Normally during the afternoon rush hour on Interstate 94, the Edens Expressway, at least the northbound lanes are congested--sometimes both directions are. Heading south is an Illinois state trooper and a snow plow. Besides the storm itself, the big story in Chicago is Lake Shore Drive, which is still closed and packed with hundreds of abandoned cars. City officials are being criticized for not closing the road earlier, and for allowing accordion buses onto the major thoroughfare. In heavy snow, they are as effective as an intoxicated caterpillar.
Morton Grove's main streets are drivable--and the side streets are in okay shape. The accident that damaged this car probably happened on Lincoln, the vehicle was likely hastily backed into the condominium parking lot. Be careful out there. Automobile accidents happen even in perfect driving conditions. The cars's front passenger window is smashed and it has a flat tire.

Is it possible for there to be too much snow for sledding? Well during my morning walking tour of Morton Grove, the local sledding hill was abandoned. This afternoon things were, well, back to normal I guess. Oh wait, I said that already.
