Rezko pleads guilty in pizza fraud case; "Ready, willing and able to testify" against Blago

Convicted fixer Tony Rezko, Barack Obama's first political sponsor, pleaded guilty to fraud charges yesterday. He had been indicted for his role in a loan scam involving the sale of his Papa Tony's pizza restaurants.

Rezko's attorney, Joe Duffy, made some interesting comments to reporters yesterday after the hearing.

"It's the government's call to decide" regarding the possibility Rezko being called as a witness Duffy said. He added that Rezko would be a "formidable witness against both the governor and the first lady."

He added that onetime Wilmette resident is "ready, willing and able to testify" against Rod Blagovevich.

Rezko was not asked to testify in the first Blago trial. Patti Blagojejich has not been accused of any crimes, but her real estate work for Rezko has raised eyebrows--some wonder if Patti did much to earn commissions on the deals she performed for his firm, Rezmar.
