Jan Schakowsky's big lies on jobs

Are you ready for some irony? Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston), who nominally represents me in Washington, is a member of President Obama's Fiscal Commission, better known as the debt commission. Last week she appeared on Fox News and called for more spending.

We live in a surreal world.

Schakowsky peddled a lot of fiction on Fox that day, including some whoppers about jobs "created" by Obama.

Thankfully for the first time, voters in Illinois' 9th Congressional District have a solid chance to unseat Schakowsky, thanks to the efforts of Republican Joel Pollak of Skokie.

From a campaign press release:

"Jan Schakowsky won't tell the truth about jobs. She wants to keep over-spending, borrowing, and taxing--all of which destroy jobs. The only way to create jobs in the 9th district is to vote Jan Schakowsky out of office, and vote for a representative who really puts job creation first," said Joel Pollak, GOP nominee for the 9th district seat.

The video takes aim at Schakowsky for her misleading statement on Fox News on Thursday, July 1, 2010:

"This administration, this Congress, is set to create more jobs in 8 months than net jobs created in the last 8 years of the Bush administration. I know a lot of people say that's not true. Check it out," Schakowsky said.

The video points out that 4.4 million net jobs were created under Bush, while 2.8 million jobs have been lost under Obama and 6.6 million have been lost under Pelosi.

It also points out that the June jobs report, which was released the day after Schakowsky made her statement, reported a worse-than-expected number of 125,000 jobs lost.
