The North Platte Canteen

From Christmas Day 1941 through the spring of 1946, more than six million soldiers and sailors passed through North Platte, Nebraska on Union Pacific trains.

They were greeted by the North Platte Canteen with cookies, coffee, sandwiches--and of course good luck wishes and prayers.

Not all could serve in the military during World War II. But the North Platte Canteen served our nation the best way it could.
