Harkin: Card check sneak attack may be coming

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) is Big Labor's most compliant lap dog. Which is why he won't let go the so-called Employee Free Choice Act, perhaps the most economically damaging piece of legislation being promoted by the far-left.

In the Washington Examiner, the Workforce Fairness Institute's Katie Packer comments on Harkin's suggestion that he might try to force EFCA and its card check provision through Congress during the post-election "lame duck" session.

"It appears Senator Harkin might have missed the outcome of the Arkansas Senate runoff election earlier this month. After spending over $10 million to elect Big Labor's poster child Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter – who repeatedly claimed EFCA was 'dead' – the job-killing agenda advocated by union bosses was widely and unequivocally rejected by voters in Arkansas," said Katie Packer, executive director of the Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI). "The reality is that EFCA is a job-killer and the first people in the unemployment line will be those who support it, whether they’re up for election or re-election in 2010 or 2012. Senator Harkin has consistently advocated on Big Labor’s behalf concerning the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act and there are few people who have been proven wrong as often as the Iowa Senator. Simply stated, Tom Harkin is not a credible messenger and the small business community will not allow for any legislation that includes the elimination of the secret ballot or mandatory, binding arbitration."
