Union hypocrisy in California over car plant closing

Oh, there is so much hypocrisy in this world...and the latest bit comes from California. First a quick disclosure. The sign in this post was taken at a Three Rivers, Michigan, union hall. But the attitude it broadcasts fits this entry perfectly.

Reports of problems with faulty Toyota gas pedals have dominated the news of late, which is as it should be. But tonight I'm going to take a look at the closing of the NUMMI plant, a joint venture that will be shutting down at the end of March. It's California's last auto plant.

NUMMI, short for New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., began producing General Motors and Toyota cars in 1984, opening a GM plant that had closed two years earlier.

But government-owned GM pulled out of the agreement last year. The United Autoworkers Union, which owns 17.5 percent of GM, is protesting the closure, several NUMMI workers picketed a Modesto Toyota dealership, they handed out flyers and held up a banner that read, "Toyota Killing California Jobs."

Smell the hypocrisy.
