Illinois' Dem nominee for lt guv: Cleaning business and pawn shop owner who was once charged with battery

Scott Lee Cohen is the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in Illinois. Cohen made a name for himself by founding the group anti-Blagojevich group "Rod Must Resign." Now that's a bold position.

Cohen, a Chicagoan, made his fortune owning and managing rental properties, a cleaning business, and pawn shops. You can't make this stuff up. Okay, I realize that pawn shops provide an important service to people, even in the best economic times, who are in need of small-value loans. But let's face it, pawn shops have a tawdry reputation. So does Illinois.

In 2005, Cohen was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery charge, but the case was dropped when the female accuser didn't appear in court.

Cohen could end up being just a heartbeat away from the governor's mansion.
