Northwest Herald endorses Jim Ryan for governor

In an editorial, McHenry County's Northwest Herald endorsed Jim Ryan in next month's Republican gubernatorial campaign.

In 2002, Ryan had an opportunity to keep Rod Blagojevich from ever sitting in the governor's mansion. Ryan was in the unfortunate position of being of the party of an outgoing disgraced governor and sharing the same last name. But Jim Ryan, the two-term attorney general and longtime DuPage County state's attorney, is a fighter figuratively and literally – a boxer in his youth, a cancer survivor and a father who has dealt with the loss of his children. A fighter is particularly what is needed in a state controlled by House Speaker Michael Madigan.
