My favorite photographs of 2009, part four

I made a minor name for myself last year by blowing the whistle on signs such as the one on the right. It's nothing more than a tax-payer funded billboard touting Barack Obama's $787 billion economic stimulus program. Why this photograph made my list is because the sign was located inside Yosemite National Park.

Could you imagine the uproar if a similar sign was placed inside the park while George W. Bush was president?

In September, the Senate voted down a Republican amendment that would have blocked funding of what Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH) called "self-congratulatory signs."

Maybe next year.
