Jim Ryan: Gov. Quinn hits all of the wrong notes

Republican candidate for Illinois Governor Jim Ryan issued this statement earlier today:

Governor Pat Quinn's state-of-the-state address was more of the same from the former running mate of Rod Blagojevich. He feigned surprise at the corruption he endorsed in 2006 and hailed his watered down ethics "reforms".

He talked about reviving the state's sagging economy but refused to address the reason for the decline—the high cost of doing business in Illinois.

He promised more spending and more taxes. The state needs the opposite.

He failed to provide straight-forward answers on the early release of dangerous prisoners.

On all these fronts, Governor Quinn is headed in the wrong direction. We need honest and authentic leadership in Springfield. We need a prosecutor's mentality to fix the mess Democratic leadership in Illinois is just making worse.
