The Chicago Tribune's Clout Street blog reports that the Cook County Democratic Party produced a direct mail piece touting its endorsed candidates, declaring, "throughout history, Democrats have led us to prosperity." The mailer includes photographs of these Democratic presidents: Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Bill Clinton, and of course Barack Obama of Chicago.Is someone missing?
Yep, Jimmy "Malaise" Carter, whose disastrous presidency saddled America with foreign policy and economic failures. Cook County Democratic Chairman Joseph Berrios claims that Carter was in the layout that was sent to the printers. The longtime pol "absolutely and wholeheartedly apologize to President Carter 100 percent."
