Chris Kennedy not running for US Senate

Kenilworth resident and Merchandise Mart head Chris Kennedy, the son of RFK, won't be running for the US Senate in Illinois, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting this afternoon.

Some Dems are concerned that the front runner among the Democrats running, state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, isn't up to the task.

I'm going to miss his presence in the race. Like all the Kennedys, he's a big proponent of wind power. I imagine, like his kin, he opposes the Cape Wind project off of his the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port.

That situation would present some wondrous blogging opportunities.
