This story goes back a year, but according to Digg there has been some recent interest in this Chicago Tribune photo series based on the AAA 2008 Vacation Costs Survey.Click here for the 10 least expensive states for travelers.
I imagine that 2009 series isn't much different.

Number one? At least last year, the cheapest was North Dakota, which I visited in 2004.
