Illinois corruption update: Ald. Carothers may plead guilty

Chicago Ald. Isaac Carothers (29th) pleaded not guilty to bribery, fraud, and tax charges today in federal court today.

But the Chicago Tribune is reporting that West Sider may change his plea to guilty.

Carothers may prove to be a unique character in the sad annals of Chicago politics, his father William, also a West Side aldermen, served time in prison for extortion in the 1980s.
