Workforce Fairness Institute: Secret ballot elections working out well for unions

Here's another reason not to ditch the right of workers to have secret ballot elections to decide whether they want to join a union. The elections are going well for organized labor, as the Workforce Fairness Institue informs us in a press release:

Washington, D.C. (May 5, 2009) – The Workforce Fairness Institute (WFI) today issued the following statement in response to data released by The Bureau of National Affairs concerning a significant increase in the percentage of victories by unions in organizing elections, in addition to increases in the number of elections conducted by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

"Data released today provides indisputable evidence that the Employee 'Forced' Choice Act is a solution in search of a problem and proof positive this job-killing legislation is nothing more than a giveaway to special interests," said Katie Packer, executive director of the Workforce Fairness Institute. "Unions are winning the vast majority of elections conducted by the National Labor Relations Board and the number of elections have increased significantly. Yet, Congress – emboldened by billions of dollars in contributions from labor bosses – is considering legislation that would break the back of job creators in this economy. Today's report exposes the hypocrisy of union bosses and their supporters in Congress who claim the 'Forced' Choice Act is legislation this country and economy 'needs.' We will not support legislation that takes away the right of workers to vote on contracts and imposes massive burdens on small businesses forcing them to close their doors."
