Morton Grove native Marlee Matlin receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Morton Grove Voice tipped me off to this news....

Actress Marlee Matlin, who won a Best Actress Oscar in her film debut "Children of a Lesser God,"
was honored with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame this morning.

She is a native of Morton Grove, Illinois--and she's believed to be the first person from Morton Grove to be so honored.

Matlin lost all of her hearing in one ear when she was 18 months old--and most of her hearing in the other. That didn't stop her from pursuing an acting career, which began when she was seven years old.

Besides "Children of a Lesser God," Matlin has numerous television and other movie credits.
