Burris denies pay to play wrongdoing, begins central Illinois tour

Although he said he would "personally do something" for since-ousted Governor Rod Blagojevich, Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL) denies he did anything wrong while he sought Barack Obama's Senate seat.

In a prepared statement, Burris said he did not commit perjury.

Burris begins a two day tour of central Illinois. His web site doesn't list his itinerary, but I wonder if Sangamon County is included. That's in central Illinois, as is John Schmidt, the county's state's attorney:

CBS 2 Legal Analyst Irv Miller says that there is no way to reconcile the affidavit that Burris submitted to the Senate with the transcripts that were released Tuesday.

Miller says if the state's attorney of Sangamon County was on the fence or close to presenting the case to a grand jury, this is going to tip the scale and make them want to go ahead with the prosecution.

Resign now, Roland. And let's have a special election to determine who replaces this bum.
