Burris expects to be seated "very shortly"

I think the end is in near in the Roland Burris-Rod Blagojevich circus. And Blago and Burris are the winners.

The gangster-governor's pick to replace Barack Obama in the US Senate, Roland Burris, gave a press conference a couple of hours ago, and says he expects to be seated "very shortly."

Support for Burris in Washington is growing. Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) came out for the Chicago Democrat yesterday, and this afternoon, the Congressional Black Caucus, which was uncharacteristically quiet amidst the controversy, says its backing Burris.

Meanwhile, Illinois and federal law seems to back Burris' claim that the Illinois Secretary of State does not have to sign off on Blagojevich's paperwork.

And Judicial Watch, generally regarded as a conservative group, although it has filed lawsuits against Republican politicians, is backing Burris' bid.

It ain't over yet, and I still want a special election.

But for certain, there will be a US Senate election in Illinois next year. The winner walks away with a six-year Senate term.

There are elections for governor, Cook County board president, and a whole lot of offices.

Time for Illinoisans to speak up. Yell if necessary.

  1. I want a special election too.
    Aren't senators supposed to be
elected by the people too, like
    Governors, mayors, presidents etc?
    The Burris senate appointment
    smells fishy! Of course anything
    connected to Blago smells fishy!
