Burris denied Senate floor access amidst scrum

"My name is Roland Burris, and I'm the junior senator from Illinois." That's how Rod Blagojevich's pick to replace Barack Obama in the US Senate began his very brief press conference.

Adding that he didn't want to provoke a controversey, Burris hopped in a nearby car, and had his attorney make a longer statement on hehalf of the man he called "Senator Roland Burris."

Fox News' Brian Wilson was on Capitol Hill and accompanied the group of reporters and camera operators, which he called a "srum," up the rain-slicked steps of the capitol building.

Wilson, a longtime Washington correspondent, called the Blago-ignited commotion as "a big of a mess as I've ever seen."

In a surreal sidelight, later today will be a guest at a party at Sen. Dick Durbin's office.

This insanity could have been avoided had the Democratic-controlled Illinois General Assembly taken away Blagojevich's power to appoint a successor to Barack Obama in the US Senate.

Oh, I'm getting really fed up with the media referring to Burris as a "classy gentleman." Burris' Capitol Hill stunt was anything but classy.

Hey Burris: You are a Blago enabler.

We want a special election!

  1. I'm pretty sure when Mary Mitchell
gets wind of Burris being denied
access, she'll pull the "R" card
    out of her hat!

  2. This is too funny. It makes the local Democrats look so bad that I say, go Burris. I am also enjoying the fact that not a single one of my Democratic friends will admit to voting for Blagojevich, he must have been elected by those "ghost voters." Besides, Burris will simply be replacing Mr. Won't Take a Stand, not a big deal.
