Flip flop: Obama in 1996 survey supported gun bans

Here we go again, there is yet another Obama flip-flop.

In 1996, Barack Obama answered "Yes" to this question in a survey submitted to the über-liberal political group Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO):

Do you support state legislation:

to ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns: Yes.

Last year a campaign staffer told the Chicago Tribune that Obama believed the Washington DC gun ban was constitutional.

Of course yesterday the US Supreme Court ruled otherwise.

And yesterday, Obama through a statement that he "always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms, but I also identify with the need for crime-ravaged communities to save their children from the violence that plagues our streets through common-sense, effective safety measures."

As for that 1996 IVI-IPO survey, Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said that a staffer filled it out for the great man who will be the Democratic nominee for president.

When Obama as president negotiates with Iranian nutjob Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and something terrible happens (such as a nuclear attack on Israel), will he blame it on a staffer?

As for Obama and guns: Flip. Flop. Flip. Flop.
