Another month passes, and just as May began with the Chicago White Sox leading the American League Central--by just one game over the Minnesota Twins. However, this weekend the Sox dropped three of four to the (I still can't believe it) AL East leading Tampa Bay Rays.
But the South Siders are still on top of their division.
To be fair-and-balanced, I have to mention that the Chicago Cubs are not only leading their division, but they have the best record in Major League Baseball. According the the Cubs television broadcast crew, the last time the Cubs had held this distinction on June 1, was in 1908, when the Cubs won their last World Series crown.
About the Rays: Are the people of the Tampa Bay area going to support a winning team? If they don't, I'm sure Orlando, Las Vegas, or Charlotte would be glad to make the Rays feel at home. Saturday night's game against the Sox was only their third sell-out of the year, the Rays are averaging just 17,000 fans a game, the lowest in the American League.

Hmmm...are we thinking a possible cross-town World Series this year??
ReplyDeleteI didn't think so, either.
Well...the Cubs alway find unique ways to blow it, and the White Sox, by default could end up winning the AL Central, but they need to come to the batter's box with a bat.
