McCain's "Service to America" tour ends

John McCain's "Service to America" tour ended today. Wednesday the senator spoke at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, where he of course gathered quite a few demerits. Hey, the guy has spirit.

Later in the day, McCain flew to Pensacola, Florida--his first posting as a Navy ensign--where he learned to fly. Video is here.

Today McCain traveled to Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida, where he arrived in 1973 after serving five years as a prisoner of war, and he gave a moving speech, an excerpt of it is here. Obama gives emotionally uplifting speeches as well, but it means more when it comes from a man who has seen many of his bills enacted into law while serving in Congress. The leader of the "Cult of Change" has just one such accomplishment as a senator.

And finally, this youngster who attended the Jacksonville McCain event would be a perfect running mate for the Arizonan--but he's only about 10 years old.

McCain's "biography tour" is getting mixed reviews. But I think it was the perfect thing for him to do. Some voters view him as a caricature: an old guy with a hot temper. The "Service to America" trek "fleshed out" the man. The general election is in November--now is the time to build while Obama and Hillary Clinton claw away at each other.
