Dems pick up Hastert's seat in special election

Perhaps former House Speaker Dennis Hastert should have stayed around a while longer. Special elections can be tricky things, and the trick worked against the Republican Party, as Democrat Bill Foster defeated Republican Jim Oberweis in today's contest to fill the vacant Illinois 14th Congressional District seat.

Foster won 52 percent of the vote. The two men face each other again in the general election this fall, and perhaps a bigger turnout out will help "Obi-wan" in the re-match

Still, I'm not going to lie. This one hurts.

We have some work to do.

  1. Not totally surprising, considering how much money the DNC threw into claiming Oberweis is shipping jobs to China with his investment funds.

The GOP needs to field better candidates.

No offense to Oberweis, but he's now a 4 time loser in elections.

That's more than a hint, to me.

Tubby, middle aged businessmen feed right into the stereotype.

We need some youth. Some energy.

Hell, maybe the Yo-ster needs to belly up to the bar.
