Police brutalizer Cynthia McKinney to lead protest of police brutality

Former Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA), who last year punched a Capitol Hill policeman in the chest after a she refused to show her congressional credentials to the officer, has teamed up with the National Hip-Hop Political Convention to protest police brutality.

This is a serious problem, especially in the area where I live, but couldn't the organizers have found a prominent person besides cop-slugger Cynthia McKinney to draw attention to this blight on our society?

The five day protest, Cease Fire: Stop Police Brutality, will commence on November 21.

To the chagrin of many supporters of the Green Party, yesterday I pointed out McKinney's ties to the Greens. McKinney, who was voted out of office last year, has been mentioned as a possible Green Party nominee for president.

From October 24 blog entry:

Two months ago, McKinney took herself out of consideration for the Green Party nomination for president. But her most recent blog entry on the subject, from October 24, hints that she may have changed her mind.

I have endorsed Cindy Sheehan, the mother who lost her son in the Iraq war, who is now running for Congress in San Francisco against Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic Leader who took impeachment off the table and who continues to fund the war. And I might very well become a candidate for President in the United States under the Green Party banner.

McKinney thanks Illinoisans for their work in getting her on the February 5 presidential primary ballot here. She hasn't officially announced, but my guess is that she'll be running for president under the Green Party banner.
