College football: The odds get even
The last time the Navy Midshipmen defeated the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame was in 1963. Snapping an NCAA Football record 43 game losing streak, Navy topped Notre Dame 46-44 in a triple-overtime contest South Bend.
On the other end of the Midwest, once-lowly Kansas punished the Nebraska Cornhuskers this afternoon in Lawrence, winning 76-39. The Jaykawks finally broke their 36 game losing streak to Nebraska two years ago, but today's game must have seemed like the exclamation point--with the dot being a hydrogen bomb. Kansas' point total was most given up by a Nebraska team ever.
Kansas, beter known for its status as a national power in basketball, is 9-0 for the first time since 1908.
