Diamondbacks beat Cubs in game one of the NL Division Series

Yes, this White Sox fan does watch Cub games. And last night I watched an entertaining contest as Arizona Diamondbacks ace Brandon Webb bested Chicago Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano for a 3-1 D-Backs victory at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Webb pitched six innings, giving up just one run and four hits, but had to contend with a base runner each inning thanks to four bases on balls and one Arizona error.

Perhaps the crowd mikes were set on low, but the fans at Chase Field didn't appear to make much noise. They sure waived those white pom pons a lot.

Tonight two California-born lefties face each other on the mound: Ted Lilly for the Cubs and Doug Davis for the D-Backs.

Going into last night's game, Cub fans were already griping. The 9:00pm Central Time start, and the unavailability of a free TV broadcast outlet--the series is being shown on TBS--created a lot of grumbling here. This loss, and another late-night cable only broadcast, will further darken their moods.
