Marathon Pundit has gone liberal
The headline is a teaser--it should read " Marathon Pundit has gone to Liberal, Kansas."
I'm Treo blogging from the town which despite its name, isn't very liberal.
I'm staying at a motel on Pancake Boulevard. Taking the idea from an English town, each year there is a women's running race where the event's rules stipulate that after the starting gun goes off, participants must flip a pancake on a skillet, run with both, then flip the pancake before crossing the finish line.'
As you can see in the picture (added August 25), there is an Oz presence here. Liberal is home to Dorothy's House and Wizard of Oz Museum.
I saw a lot today. Greensburg was where I spent the most time today. When I get back home, I'll blog a lot about it. I saw devestation there--and hope.
Dodge City was another stopoff. There was a bit of cheesiness, but I'm glad I visited the famous Wild West town.
Dodge City trivia: Traditionally the American West begins at the 100th meridian. And just east of Dodge City's rebuilt Front Street lies that demarcation point.
I was quite excited when I noticed that on my Telenav device.
On my way to Liberal, for a while I travelled parellel to the Santa Fe Trail.
No Man's Land tomorrow.
