Nebraska GOP AG announces for Hagel's Senate seat

Republican Jim Bruning is the attorney general of Nebraska, and he's not wasting any time in declaring his intention to run of the Senate in 2008. RINO Chuck Hagel is up for reelection, but Hagel may run for president, possibly as an independent, run for reelection, or retire.

More from the Omaha World-Herald:

Bruning referred to incumbent Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel as a "carpetbagger" and chided him as "irresponsible" for raising the specter of impeachment in reference to President Bush.

"I'm a candidate without reservation. I can and I will beat Senator Hagel next spring," he said.

Bruning said Hagel, a native Nebraskan, is a carpetbagger because he moved back to the state in 1994, won the Senate seat two years later and now lives in Virginia.

Few Congressman commute back to their home states every weekend, but if Hagel is scarce in Omaha--where his biography says he lives--that's more fuel for the anti-Hagel fire in the Cornhusker State.
