Boehner seeks Jefferson expulsion

The war in Iraq was the overriding issue in the last congressional election--which led to the Democrats taking both houses of Congress. Republican sleaze and graft, exemplified by the Abramoff scandal helped turn the the legislature red.

Were it not for that scandal, Montana's Conrad Burns would've easily won re-election to the Senate, and the upper chamber, through Dick Cheney's tie-breaking vote, would have remained under GOP control.

It's with that in mind that I'm glad to report that the House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), is pushing for the expulsion of indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) from the House. Jefferson, who was re-elected last fall despite the cloud of investigation surrounding him, today was formally charged with racketeering, money laundering, obstruction of justice and more.

Like many people, particularly men, Jefferson put stuff in his freezer that he had no intention of ever eating. However, it's unlikely, unlike let's say last Christmas' hambone, that Rep. Jefferson forgot what he stuffed in his freezer--$90,000 in cash.
