Obama thinks it over a few days, then says Imus should be fired

It took him a few days, and some of his fellow travelers on the left were wondering when he'd say something, but Sen. Barack Obama in an interview with ABC News, called on radio and MSNBC talk show host Don Imus to be fired for his racially insensitive comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

Imus made the comment, he called the team "nappy headed hos," last week. Obama is just now denouncing Imus.

He also took his time in criticizing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace's remarks calling homosexuality "immoral," something his base of supporters noticed, as well as in the Imus case.

Is Obama attempting to keep above the fray? Of is he using focus groups to mold his decisions?
