Democrats' surrender vote a Cheap Trick

Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away...
Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Surrender, 1978

Not only have the Senate Democrats, minus Joe Lieberman, voted to pull our troops from Iraq--in my words, surrender, but they didn't follow the Rockford, Illinois sage's advice: They gave their self away. Seriously, the belief shortly after the Dems took control of Congress was that the Democrats wouldn't be so stupid as to make a serious move to force our troops early from Iraq. But "stupid is as stupid does, Forrest Gump says.

Of course President Bush will veto the bill, and the Democrats do not have the votes to override.

Fortunately, there is another election next year. Which brings me to another lyric from Surrender:

Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Every time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?

It's a hope.
