It looks like the brunt of the Northeast's big storm will pass through Boston today, which has already led to the cancellation of the Red Sox game against the Los Angeles Angels this afternoon.
Running events, particularly marathons, are almost never called off, and the 111th Boston Marathon is on for tomorrow at 10am Eastern.
The forecast for Monday has improved, and juxtaposed against the threat of a Marathon day nor'easter, runners are expressing relief. Ordinarily, the kind of weather runners will face tomorrow would cause distress among the athletes.

It’s heavy rain and wind today, but there may be hope for Marathon Monday as the forecast predicts a cloudy, brisk, cold day with showers and temperatures in the 40s.The winners of this year's Boston Marathon have already been decided, and they're not from Kenya. The scary initial weather forecast undoubtedly has led to massive sales of cold weather and water resistant clothing at the marathon race expo.
Still, the course will be mucky and moist, and runners and gazers will contend with soggy conditions, race organizers warned.
“We’re expecting the winds will relax,” said Hayden Frank, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Taunton. “There will be lingering rain early in the morning, but much of Monday will be dry with a few passing showers.”
