Almost perfect: White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle throws no-hitter

While I wasn't blogging, I was watching Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox throw the South Siders' first no-hitter since Wilson Alvarez hurled one in just his second start in 1991.

The White Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 6-0.

It was also the first Sox no-hitter in Chicago since Joel Horlen tossed one in 1967, while the White Sox were locked in a tight pennant race.

And it was almost the first perfect game for the White Sox since 1922. In the fifth inning, Buehrle walked one time Sox outfielder Sammy Sosa, but promptly picked him off first base.
