The Old State Capitol Building in Springfield


Springfield has been Illinois' capital since the 1830s--and pictured on the left is the Old State Capitol Building.

Abraham Lincoln served there as a state representative, argued cases there in front of the state supreme court, made his famous "House Divided" speech, and used the governor's office while President-elect.
