New UN leader, old problems

Claudia Rosett in her Pajamas Media Rosett Report says the big job of new UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon is to to clean up the mess left behind by his predecessor, Kofi Annan.

In greater detail, Rosett outlines her reasoning in today's New York Daily News.

Here's one tragic mess that Ban needs to fix--quickly. London's Daily Telegraph is reporting tonight that UN staff, including office staff, military policemen, and "peacekeepers" have been accused of raping children as young as twelve in southern Sudan.

There's an internal UN report on these allegations, but the UN refuses to publicly acknowledge it, and they won't talk to the Telegraph.

Get to work, Ban.
