Just south of downtown Springfield is the Aristocracy Hill neighborhood. There you'll find the only home the 16th president ever owned. Until the 2005 opening (I'm going to do a separate post on that) of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library,
the Lincoln home was the centerpiece of Lincolania in Springfield.
Little Marathon Pundit and I visited Springfield last week.
As with
Lincoln's New Salem day before, we had the pleasure of avoiding the crowds--early January is obviously "off-season" there. There were only two other people with us for our ranger-guided tour.
