Saudi prepaid cell phone customers use Bluetooth to spread blue material

Yesterday, I posted about Saudi Arabia's Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention and its harassment of two female authors who made an unprecedented appearance at the Riyadh International Book Fair.

The commission will likely soon be on the trail of the anonymous prepaid cell phone users utilizing the wireless Bluetooth technology to spread porn.

Just as in the West, getting a prepaid phone without revealing a true identity is pretty easy. So if a guy with a cell phone sends a forbidden picture to another cell phone user, he's probably not going to be tracked down.

From the Arab News:

"The process of sending outrageous pictures through mobile phones have become a dangerous threat to families' stability and our youth's morality," Ali Hijri, (a) victim of the unsolicited material. "Unfortunately, we have now phone hackers who buy SAWA (Saudi cellular) phone chips under no name and then misuse them to execute their wicked plans."

Hijri mentioned that there should be some effort to control this regenerated nuisance from authorities such as the STC, the Police Department and the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

Retailers of SAWA chips confirmed that young Saudi males make sure to buy new fairly frequently. They deliberately avoid filling out any information forms, which would reveal their identity. Sometimes when shop owners insist on having their official data, young men refuse to buy the chip and sales decrease. Therefore, shops feel obliged to sell SAWA chips illegally.

As for pornography, never underestimate the ingenuity of males to find ways to access it.
