Is Paris burning? Yes

Been busy of late, hence the fairly light blogging. One of the stories I've been meaning to get to is the unrest, or better phrased, the riots in suburban Paris. The riots are taking place in predominately Muslim towns near Paris, a fact not even the mainstream media has overlooked.

The riots are very bad news for the West, despite the temptation to laugh at France's misfortune. Here is why, from the same AP article linked above:

''I will not accept organized gangs making the law in some neighborhoods. I will not accept having crime networks and drug trafficking profiting from disorder,'' Villepin said at the Senate in between emergency meetings called over the riots.

So the riots may not be random events. The unrest could spread to other European countries.
