FBI investigating state cleaning contract, top IDOT exec suspended

This story came to Marathon Pundit originally through a press release from the Joe Birkett campaign.

Illinois' "pay to pay" culture has attracted the attention of the FBI.

To summarize, PWS Environmental Inc. donated $25,000 to Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich's campaign fund. Since then, PWS received over a half-million dollars in state cleaning business, specifically, power washing buildings, but also, cleaning the inside of Illinois Department of Transportation salt domes. An expert contacted by AP said he had no idea why anyone would need to clean the inside of a salt dome.

The president of PWS is William Mologousis, who happens to be the brother-in-law of Robert Millette, a top IDOT executive.

Yesterday, Millette was suspended that from that position.
