Ilhan Omar votes 'present' on bill condemning Armenian genocide

In a resolution introduced a California leftist congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA), the House overwhelmingly voted in favor of a bill condemning the genocide committed by Turkey against Armenians during World War I.

But a member of "the Squad" voted present.

From Fox News:
Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., on Tuesday refused to support a congressional resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide, saying it was important first to condemn the preceding "mass slaughter" of "hundreds of millions of indigenous people," as well as the "transatlantic slave trade."

Omar, in a statement explaining her vote of "present" on the resolution, also seemingly suggested that the century-old mass killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks may not have occurred at all. She asserted that "accountability and recognition of genocide should not be used as a cudgel in a political fight" but should instead "be done based on academic consensus outside the push and pull of geopolitics."

The comments prompted accusations that Omar, again, was seeking to communicate a bigoted message while maintaining a veneer of wink-and-nod deniability -- even as she has previously called for a boycott over alleged Israeli human-rights abuses, described the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks as an instance in which "some people did something", and asserted that "Israel has hypnotized the world."

Mark Dice: Democrats New Hero

The mainstream media showed its true heart Sunday, Mark Dice tells us, in its coverage of the justified killing of ISIS creep Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The Washington Compost referred to the scumbag as an "austere religious scholar" in a headline. Bloomberg wasn't much better.

Illinois Democratic state rep from Chicago indicted on bribery charges on same day president visits city

Trump Tower, Chicago
My dear friends, I believe we're on the cusp of a bounty of indictments of Illinois politicians. Oh, maybe a Republican or two, RINOs, might be snagged but this will be a harvest of Democrats.

The ironic part--humorous really--is that Donald Trump was in Chicago today for the time as president trashing the soon-to-be fourth most populous city in America.

From Fox Chicago:
An Illinois state lawmaker bribed a legislative colleague with an offer of $2,500 a month in exchange for the state senator's support of sweepstakes-related legislation, according to a federal complaint unsealed on Monday.

Rep. Luis Arroyo, 65, made the offer on Aug. 2 and handed over an initial check on Aug. 22 for the unidentified lawmaker's backing of the legislation in the Illinois Senate, the complaint says.

The Chicago Democrat's alleged willingness to arrange regular payments for legislative support stands out even in a state with a history of brazen public corruption.

The 12-page complaint describes the moment Arroyo gave the check to his colleague in a suburban Chicago restaurant, citing a federal wiretap that allegedly captured their conversation.

Trump in Chicago after weekend when 3 were murdered and 21 others wounded in city

Over the past weekend three men in Chicago were shot to death--two on the West Side and one on the South Side, and 21 others were wounded.

Today President Donald Trump will make his first visit to Chicago since his inauguration nearly three years ago. Chicago's police superintendent Eddie Johnson, will not be in the audience when Trump speaks, because he opposes Trump's immigration polices.

Johnson has problems besides Chicago crime. Earlier this month he was found asleep in his car. He later said he'd been drinking. Last week the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police issued a no confidence vote on Johnson.

From Doug Ross: DEMOCRACY DIES IN DARKNESS: ISIS Edition

Please spread this Doug Ross post far and wide. Phone the kids and wake the neighbors, as David Letterman would say when he was funny.

DEMOCRACY DIES IN DARKNESS: ISIS Edition.

Washington Compost headline for ISIS leader's obituary originally read, "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State, dies at 48"

"Democracy dies in darkness" is the motto of the Washington Post Compost. That of course explains the failures of Illinois and California governments.

But deep down there is a strong current of anti-Americanism with the Compost. Overnight one of the most vile men known to humanity, ISIS strongman Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, killed himself as American troops chased the terrorist down a tunnel. The Compost wrote an obituary. It's original headline read, "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State."

After Adolf Hitler snuffed himself out, the Post didn't use this headline, "German cultural proponent and vegetarian Hitler dies in bunker."

So much of the media, and America sadly, has lost its way.

Winning: ISIS leader dead, kills self during US raid; Trump says, "He died like a coward"

I'll never get tired of winning.

From Fox News:
President Trump, announcing the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, described him as dying "in a vicious and violent way, as a coward, running and crying."

"He died like a dog, he died like a coward," Trump said in a speech to the nation Sunday morning.

The ISIS leader's death came in a successful U.S. military operation in northwest Syria Saturday night that took roughly two hours.

The Islamic State leader detonated an explosive vest as U.S. Special Operations Forces stormed his compound in the Idrib Province. Trump said he died whimpering at the back of a dead-end tunnel.

Durham investigation into Russia probe now a criminal investigation

The Swamp is getting nervous.

From Fox News:
U.S. Attorney John Durham's ongoing probe into potential FBI and Justice Department misconduct in the run-up to the 2016 election through the spring of 2017 has transitioned into a full-fledged criminal investigation, two sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News on Thursday night.

One source added that DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz's upcoming report on alleged FBI surveillance abuses against the Trump campaign will shed light on why Durham's probe has become a criminal inquiry. Horowitz announced on Thursday his report would be available to the public soon, with "few" redactions.

The investigation's new status means Durham can subpoena witnesses, file charges, and impanel fact-finding grand juries.

Fox News reported on Tuesday that Durham's probe had expanded significantly based on new evidence uncovered during a recent trip to Rome with Attorney General Bill Barr.

While marching with striking Chicago teachers today will Warren mention getting "fired" as a teacher for being pregnant?

Elizabeth Warren will join Chicago Teachers Union picketers today. The presidential candidate and Massachusetts senator of course once was a teacher. But will the strikers hear about that? Maybe not. Like another Bay State Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry, the party's nominee in 2004, Warren has developed a reputation for lying about her past, most notoriously, her claim of Native American heritage.

Warren claims that she was fired from her teaching job because of her pregnancy. Only in 2007 she told a much different story. And records from that time throw cold water on her claim.

5 dead and at least 35 wounded in Chicago over weekend

While the Chicago teachers strike is dominating the local news unfortunately there is still rampant violence to report on. Over the past weekend five people were murdered.

Three of the fatal shootings occurred on the West Side, two on the South Side.

Back to the West Side: A man who was grazed in the head by a bullet while driving kept moving, ran a red light, and was hit by a Chicago Transit Authority truck. Both the gunshot victim and the truck driver are hospitalized under serious condition.

The Democrats are the leftist party: Bernie slams Warren for being a capitalist

I do have some Democratic friends--and they often take exception for my calling Dems leftists. But the Democrats are not the liberal party any more. It's the party of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, and Bernie Sanders.

The leftist party.

From Fox News:
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders – the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist whose standing in the 2020 primary has become threatened by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s surge in the Democratic primary with progressive voters – is seeking to cut into the support of his rival by dismissing her as a "capitalist."

"There are differences between Elizabeth and myself," Sanders said during an interview Sunday on ABC’s "This Week." "Elizabeth I think, as you know, has said that she is a capitalist through her bones. I’m not."

The comments come amid a rise in socialism in the Democratic Party, as candidates become more willing to openly embrace socialism over capitalism. It also follows polling showing that Democrats now view socialism more positively than they do capitalism.

Last year, when asked if she was a capitalist, Warren reportedly said, "I am a capitalist to my bones."
Until recently "capitalist" was a positive term.

As for Pocahontas, I'm not entirely sure she's a capitalist.

Chicago weekend shootings: 7 dead, including a family of four, 21 wounded, including a 3-year-boy shot in the head

Chilly temperatures arrived for the first time in months in Chicago. But that didn't lighten carnage.

Seven people were shot to death over the weekend, including a family for four shot Saturday while having dinner by a neighbor. The alleged shooter killed a fifth person in the same building, which is the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

On the Southwest Side, a three-year-old boy is among the 21 who were wounded during the weekend. The toddler, who was sitting in a car, is in critical condition.

Squeeze - Take Me I'm Yours

The first album by Squeeze was titled, wait for it, Squeeze. Produced by John Cale of the Velvet Underground, it's for the most part pretty awful, as Squeeze, we learned later in their career, have more in common with Cole Porter, Burt Bacharach, and Paul McCartney.

They are not avante garde.

A couple of songs from that first effort were produced by Squeeze, not surprisingly they became hits. Here's the best known of that pair, "Take Me I'm Yours."

It's performed here by the songwriters from the band, Chris Difford and Glenn Tillbrook.

Swamp news: Ukraine whistleblower used to work with Biden

Man oh man, do we need to drain the swamp.

From the Washington Examiner:
The 2020 Democratic candidate with whom the CIA whistleblower had a "professional" tie is Joe Biden, according to intelligence officers and former White House officials.

Lawyers for the whistleblower said he had worked only "in the executive branch." The Washington Examiner has established that he is a career CIA analyst who was detailed to the National Security Council at the White House and has since left. On Sept. 26, the New York Times reported that he was a CIA officer. On Oct. 4, the newspaper added that he "was detailed to the National Security Council at one point."

Michael Atkinson, the Intelligence Community's inspector general, told members of Congress that the whistleblower had a "professional tie" to a 2020 Democratic candidate. He had written earlier that while the whistleblower's complaint was credible, he had shown "some indicia of an arguable political bias ... in favor of a rival political candidate."

A retired CIA officer told the Washington Examiner, “From everything we know about the whistleblower and his work in the executive branch then, there is absolutely no doubt he would have been working with Biden when he was vice president."

Bipartisan support for Illinois red light camera bans growing

There is rare good news coming out of Illinois today.

From the Chicago Sun-Times:
Bipartisan support appears to be building in the Illinois General Assembly for a statewide ban on red-light cameras.

Those are devices that some municipalities install at intersections to detect drivers running through red lights or turning without coming to a full stop.

Critics of those devices, however, argue they serve only to generate revenue and are a potential source of political corruption.

"Studies have shown that it does not improve safety. In fact, that it increases rear-end collisions," Rep. David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills, said in an interview. "So this is really a revenue grab by local governments. And, as we've seen recently, this is obviously tied up, but likely with corruption."
There is quite a bit of corruption connected with these horrible devices, which arguably cause accidents.

From MarketWatch:
The numbers: The economy added 136,000 new jobs in September, the government said Friday. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a 150,000 increase.

This is the slowest pace of job growth in four months, as businesses grew more cautious about hiring, but employment gains for August and July revised up by a combined 45,000.

And in a separate survey, the U.S. unemployment rate dropped to 3.5%, the lowest rate since December 1969. The number of unemployed people fell by 275,000 over the month.

Kamala Harris calls on Twitter to "do something" about Trump's Tweets

Leftists aren't interested in free speech. The are only interested in spreading their own speech.

From Fox News:
Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., is doubling down on her call for President Trump to be punished on Twitter, urging the platform's CEO to "do something."
On Tuesday evening, Trump lashed out at House Democrats Tuesday, claiming the ongoing impeachment inquiry against him is part of a "coup."

"As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP, intended to take away the Power of the People, their VOTE, their Freedoms, their Second Amendment, Religion, Military, Border Wall, and their God-given rights as a Citizen of The United States of America!" Trump tweeted.

Harris reacted to the tweet with a plea to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. "Hey, @jack. Time to do something about this," the 2020 hopeful wrote.

The California Democrat initially called for Trump to be suspended on Monday in reaction to his attacks on the whistleblower who shed a light on his communications with Ukraine.

Tlaib: Use only blacks as Detroit’s facial recognition analysts

Taking squad member Rashida Tlaib's logic a bit further, does that mean that only Asians can perform certain tasks? Or whites?

Detroit's police chief, James Craig, who is black, doesn't agree with the Squad member's view on facial recognition analyst hiring.

From the Detroit News:
U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib told Detroit police Chief James Craig he should employ only black people on the department’s facial recognition team because “non-African Americans think African Americans all look the same.”

The Detroit Democrat made the statement during a tour of the Real Time Crime center, where monitors display live footage from video cameras on traffic lights and in and around businesses.

A day after Tlaib made the comment Monday, her spokesman said she was trying to convey the importance of accurately identifying black suspects in a city with an African American population of about 80%.

Police officials invited Tlaib to the facility inside Public Safety Headquarters to see how Detroit uses facial recognition software, after she criticized the technology in an Aug. 20 tweet. The congresswoman wrote: "@detroitpolice You should probably rethink this whole facial recognition bull----."
