Classic car: 1956 Chevrolet Task Force pickup

Manufactured for only five model years, the Chevrolet Task Force, also known as the Apache, clearly lacks the aerodynamcis of 21st century pickup trucks. But man, with the purple paint, does this truck ever have style. And notice the spare on the side of the bed.

I photographed this vehicle at a shopping mall in Cancun in 2010.

Harms Woods and the running path in November

About a quarter-mile south of my turnaround when I run north on a ten-miler is this spot in Skokie's Harms Woods.

This is what it looked like last week. The red oaks are hanging onto their leaves.

ObamaCare causes cancellation of insurance for boy with cancer

Even if it was a bureaucratic "glitch," ObamaCare caused a boy with cancer to lose his healthcare coverage.

And Hunter Alford needs $50,000 worth of chemotherapy that his family can't afford.

The formal name of ObamaCare is the Affordable Health Care Act.

From KXII-TV:
The Alford's are in a battle with children's medicaid -- or CHIP -- Hunter's insurance.

Krista says, despite receiving a new, renewed insurance card, the agency told her they dropped his insurance.

"I called them and they said we were dropped October 31st," Krista said.

Krista says an insurance agent told her that Hunter's information got lost when they made changes under the new Affordable Care Act.

(Video) Reagan's 1986 Thanksgiving radio address: "Today more Americans are working than ever before"

In his 1986 Thanksgiving radio address, Ronald Reagan spoke of a blessing of that year's holiday season--the economic growth that had brought so many Americans out of poverty.

And he said this: "Today more Americans are working than ever before."

The current occupant of the White House can't say that.

ILL-inois: If there is a pension deal--what is it?

Supposedly there is a bi-partisan deal in Springfield to fix Illinois' worst-funded-in-the-nation public pension system. But only the political big shots know the details.

So is there a deal?

From a Chicago Tribune op-ed:
With Illinois lawmakers preparing to return to Springfield next week for a pension reform vote, you might think House and Senate leaders have an agreement in hand. One they could show the people.

Host a news conference. Release the details of a draft bill. Be transparent. Leave time for debate. Give everyone who has a stake in this — that's every citizen, every taxpayer in Illinois — time to digest what is sure to be a complicated and massively consequential bill.

That's how it's done right?

Hmmmmm, no. The folks in Springfield tend to reveal the details of big legislation like a game of three-card monte. There-it-is-now-vote!
