(Photos) Morton Grove Classic Car Show 7/12/13

For the first time this year I was able to attend the Morton Grove Classic Car Show. Weather permitting, the shows are held every other Friday during the summer at the Prairie View Shopping Center at Dempster and Waukegan Road.

First up is a 1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 convertible.

Is it possible to have a classic car show without a Ford Mustang? No. Here's a blue 1966 one.

And you've got to have a Chevy Corvette at a classic car event, preferably a red model. This 1988 muscle car belongs to a former client of mine.

Classic car etiquette: Never--ever--touch a car on display unless you are invited to do so. But that almost never happens. But the Kane County resident who owns this 1963 Chevrolet Nova Coupe suggested that I sit down in the driver's seat. After I checked to ensure there was nothing sharp on my person--I did. The car has a Tom Tom, which of course was not standard.

In front of the Morton Grove police car--a 2012 Dodge Charger--is a 1967 Chevy Camaro SS with a patriotic owner. This vehicle is black--the sunset light was playing tricks on the car's color.

It's easy to mistake this luxury vehicle for a Cadillac. I did. But it's a 1968 Plymouth VIP. It was the luxury version of the Fury model.

Another patriotic participant was the owner of 1957 Chevy 210.

The heavenly blue convertible is a 1963 Pontiac Catalina.

The Polynesian artwork makes this 1965 Chevy Sportvan the ultimate mid-'60s van.

The 1973 Dodge Dart Sport coupe was really a re-badged Dodge Demon--Christian groups complained about the un-Christian name and its devil and pitchfork logo.

From coupe to coupe. Here's another black one, a 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

As you have noticed, Morton Grove was invaded by Oldsmobiles tonight. Are you ready for one more? We started with an 88 convertible--and we'll end with one. Here's a 1964 Olds Dynamic 88.

The cars which are presented in this great auto show are really great. The car I like the most from all these great cars is the 1967 Chevy Camaro SS.
